Why holi is celebrated? A long time ago in ancient India there was a king named Hiranyakashipu he was a giant demon. He wanted to take a big revenge of his brother's death who was killed by Lord Vishnu. So for his revenge he started prayer to Lord Shiva for years and finally he was succeed to gain granted a boon. And after that he was become totally a Demon in fact a cruel demon. He started order to the people to obey his order and considering himself as God and asked his people to worship him like as God. But there was also a kind soul named Prahalad who was the son of Hiranyakashipu he was a great and true devotee of Lord Vishnu and he refused all orders of his father. And Prahalad asked the people to worship of god but his father was really a bad and hard hearted person he decided to kill his own Son. After all of this Hiranyakashipu wanted to kill Prahalad but every time lord Vishnu was there to protect Prahalad from Hiranyakashipu. Then Hiranyakashipu decided to called his sister Holika who was also a Demon and she was immune to fire. Hiranyakashipu and Holika decided to burnt Prahalad in a great fire. And then Holika sit in a big fire with Prahalad but their plan was refused because Prahalad was continuously repeating the name of Lord Vishnu and the God helped him and finally he was safe but Holika was burnt completely after sometime The Lord Vishnu killed the Hiranyakashipu also. But we celebrate Holi on the death day of Holika so guys holi is just not a day to celebrate in fact its a day of victory of goodness on badness.
